When I was given this commission it opened up a world which I had not known of. I had done so many drawings of the streets and windows and doorways and people here, but knew nothing of how the children in Greenwich Village went to school. Now, l would learn through this experience.

I wish all children would have an educational background like the one I saw given here. The teachers, the staff and the students made me feel as if were a part of the school, and I never before had been part of a learning institution where I did not have to do homework in order to get a good grade.
